It is usually organized by date (the newer entries are at the top) and it archives automatically. Oftentimes, there are categories and/or tags to help a user navigate. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Links and more links are very common in blogs.
Is there any value to blogs? Well, they are very easy and inexpensive to use. And, they can help people to connect. They might also help people to reflect on concepts and to capture thoughts with the added function of possible feedback and debate. If used in an academic forum, they can actually generate information, and allow it to be shared.
